Digital Commerce and Facebook Marketplace

In 2016, Facebook added a new feature, Facebook Marketplace. Initially categorized as a yard sale in the palm of your hand, and described as “a convenient destination to discover, buy and sell to those within your community”. Facebook has advanced their feature to include a home services feature encompassing plumbers, cleaners, electricians or anything else you need involving home improvement directly from your social media.

Facebook has already formed partnerships with service providers like Handy, HomeAdvisor and Porch. Thousands of professionals have already jumped into this new feature.

The new Facebook Marketplace feature allows consumers the ability to request a quote for services, as well as the added bonus of including project details to send to multiple professionals at once. After the connection has been made to potential service providers, you can chat via Facebook Messenger.

Consumers can browse profiles once matches have been made to find out more about the company or individual to including ratings and reviews galore.

Facebook Marketplace didn’t stop there, they’ve added apartment listings and an automobile selection for those seeking major purchases.

As with any product or service now a days, consumers are looking for recommendations from those within their community to help get the best for their money. Facebook Marketplace is making it easier than ever to find what consumers are looking for.

Before Facebook Marketplace implemented their new feature more than 450 million consumers were taking to social networks to barter and trade each month, Facebook is streamlining the process.

As Facebook Marketplace continues to expand consumers are moving away from Craigslist and other old go to sites toward a new reputable network of buyers and sellers.

How do you access Marketplace? At the bottom of your Facebook app on your phone, there is a shop icon along the bottom of the screen. Click on the icon and a whole new world appears before you. Immediately you will see different products and service sections. You can filter your results by location, category, price and much more. Marketplace also allows you to expand your search to different areas through their location tool.

The simplicity of finding everything at the palm of consumer’s hands is drawing in more and more users.

Don’t miss out on another lead by neglecting your social media.
